It has been 10 years since Holy Trinitè School’s “Les Petit Chanteurs” (Boys Choir) performed at SPR. Many of you were there to share in this memorable experience, and many of you were not. With their 10th Anniversary concert coming up this September, we all, now, have the opportunity to create another memorable moment in SPR’s history.
So, what has been going on with the planning of the “Les Petit Chanteurs’” concert since the group who traveled to Haiti, Kim Hart, Peter Lane, Mary Naftzger and Linda Thisted shared the outcome of their trip at the January 8 Adult Formation session? The date of the concert has been finalized. Mark your calendars….“Les Petit Chanteurs” will be performing in concert at SPR on Saturday evening, September 22, and participating in Sunday services on Sunday, September 23.
Chairing the “Les Petit Chanteurs’” September event, is Gail Williams, who graciously volunteered her time and talents. Gail, and current committee members, Kim, Linda, and Mary have met regularly over the past two months laying the groundwork for the time the boys will be with us. Topics of discussion during these planning meetings have included:
- Fundraising to cover all event-related expenses
- Housing for the boys
- After-Concert Party
- Entertainment Activity for the boys
- Public Relations
- Media Coverage
- Administration
Linda will be heading up the Fundraising Committee; Mary, the Housing Committee; Kim, the Entertainment Activity; and Dan Puchalla, Public Relations.
Many of you who participated in the January 8 Adult Formation session, as well as parishioners who were unable to attend, have expressed an interest in becoming more involved with this exciting event. Therefore, here is your chance! If you are interested in joining the committee, please contact Gail Williams at gwilli8787@aol.com. There will be a “Kick-Off” Cocktail Party for committee members at Linda Thisted’s home on Thursday, Apr 12, at 6:30p (5729 S. Woodlawn Avenue). During this gathering we will continue to organize ourselves and plan further for this very special event.
In addition, during April, all parishioners who would like to the opportunity to participate on a committee will have the opportunity to sign-up to volunteer and provide support in bringing the 10th Anniversary “Les Petit Chanteurs” Concert into our church home to share with each other and the wider-Chicago community.
So, the momentum is building as we move forward in creating another memorable experience with the fabulous “Les Petit Chanteurs” and our SPR community.
