Third Time’s a Charm: Living our Challenging Callings

Vocations are dynamic and evolve throughout the length of our lives, from youth through middle age, from retirement through the elder years. How can change call us from lives disconnected from meaning and purpose to live out the gifts, basic instincts, and ways we are created in new multiple callings? How do we misunderstand but then realize the life that gives us purpose? Ken Olliff will share his story of finding deeper purpose in new work. For him the “Third Time’s a Charm.” Come this Sunday to the St. Cecilia Room at 10:25a.

CrossWalk: Diocese of Chicago’s Witness Against Violence

CrossWalk, a prayerful 4-mile procession across the heart of Chicago, will take place on Monday evening of Holy Week, Apr 2. Part rallying cry and part requiem, CrossWalk will begin at the Gold Coast’s historic St. James Cathedral, cross through the center of the city, and take us to the stark reality of John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital, ending our journey where so many of our city’s most vulnerable trauma patients end theirs. For the details, go to the Diocese’s website.

Brent House, the Episcopal Center at the University of Chicago, seeks a residential house manager for its residential community of seven graduate students and guest lodging (one room). The house manager is responsible for day-to-day operations and the upkeep and maintenance of the house and grounds. The Manager is the point of contact for inquiries about the resident community, guest room and outside rentals of the space, maintaining the reservation schedule, and responding to resident concerns. A disposition of relaxed hospitality and a willingness to participate in a developing spiritual community are important. Open to singles or a couple. Those interested should email a cover letter, resume, and references to Stacy Alan at office@brenthouse.org.
