At SPR, we seek to nurture and develop an active Christian faith in children by engaging the scriptural story and Church tradition, participating in acts of service, building hospitable community and sharing in worship, all in joyous response to God's unconditional love. Kids in Worship
We welcome all children to participate fully in worship. Chlldren of all ages are encouraged to sit among the adults, to sing with the rest of the congregation, and to take Communion. We also offer special ways for children to participate in worship: Children's Chapel
During the adult sermon, creed, and prayers at the 9:15 liturgy (summer 10:00), children are invited to their own special liturgy in the chapel to sing, to pray, and to hear about the day's scripture. More details in the next column over.
Nursery
For children and parents who just need a little time out from the service, we have a professionally staffed nursery available for all children 4 and under from 8:45a - 12:45p every Sunday (9:30 - Noon during the summer).
Acolytes
Acolytes lead our processions, help the clergy at the Communion table, and assist in the leadership of the liturgy. Children who serve as acolytes learn the rhythm of worship and teach it to others. Everyone eight years old or older is welcome. For more information, email Peter Lane (pcl@sp-r.org).
Children's Choirs
All gradeschool children are invited to sing and to learn in one of our outstanding choirs.
St. Nicholas Choir for Kindergarten - 2nd Grade
Early Choristers for 3rd Grade
Choristers for 3rd Grade and Up
For more info on these choirs, including how to join, please visit our music page here. Christian FormationGodly Play
We invite children from 3 years old through fourth grade to become more fully aware of the mystery of God's presence in their lives through Godly Play, a Montessori-based Christian Formation curriculum. In Godly Play, we teach children the art of using religious forms of expression, including parable, sacred story, silence and liturgical action.
Godly Play meets each Sunday from 10:20-11:10. All are welcome.

The Sunday Eucharist is the summit of our life together. During the adult sermon, creed, and prayers at the 9:15 liturgy, children are welcomed to the chapel to sing; say a creed; offer prayers for the church, the world, family and friends; and to engage with the Gospel passage of the day in child-friendly ways. Ages: Nursery-3 through 2nd Grade
