Parishioners make food for the homeless every month. Parishioners deliver the food to our neighbors. |
Pantry Fellowship
Every Sunday, we bring high-quality, nonperishable food as well as toiletries to church in order to keep our pantry well stocked. On Mondays at 9:00 a.m., we share these with those of us who are hungry or in need while also sharing conversation and fellowship. If you want more information, email Kathleen Mills-Curran (kmillscurran@gmail.com).
The Open Kitchen
The Open Kitchen is a central part of a decades-old interfaith hunger program in Hyde Park and Kenwood, housed at the Kenwood United Church of Christ. Up to 200 homeless persons in our neighborhoods are fed at Open Kitchen.
How SPR Gets Involved
We cook lunch on the third Sunday of each month and deliver it the next day to the Open Kitchen.
How You Can Get Involved
We need shoppers to pick up the ingredients, cooks to cook it up, and drivers to deliver. If you would like to volunteer, or to get more information, contact Fran Spaltro (f-spaltro@uchicago.edu). |
