SPR: A “Liturgy Lab”

Worship at SPR is both ancient and innovative. Our worship space is a laboratory for exploring how we can use new musical and liturgical forms to reinterpret the rites and hymns we receive from tradition. Our worship is spiritually nurturing, aesthetically beautiful, and affirming of cultural diversity. We are supported in our worship by a fine tracker organ, as well as piano, and a Bose synthesizer; an uncommon and striking worship space in-the-round; and four excellent choirs.

Adult Choirs

The 9:15 Choir

This is a non-auditioned mixed choir of adults who rehearse each Thursday, 7:30 - 9:00 p.m., preparing to lead song at the weekly 9:15 service. We sing a wide variety of music, from early chant to Gospel, Jazz, and World Music. Special liturgies offer opportunities to sing larger, more challenging repertoire throughout the year. Contact Dent Davidson.

The 11:15 Choir

This newly reconfigured choir prepares music in a slightly different vein: traditional, contemplative, experimental, and even improvisatory are some of the words we are currently using to describe it. All of this music will enrich the musical leadership of the 11:15 liturgy. Rehearsals are on Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. This group is growing organically and will expand to include instrumentalists and other creative artists as the Spirit moves. If all of this strikes a chord in your heart, please contact Dent Davidson
